Composer and LACO artistic advisor Derrick Skye presents CURRENT: Equilibrium, a hand-picked selection of works—including three world premieres—that invites audiences to experience the euphonic groove of Electro-Acoustic classical music. From the “highly rhythmic clouds of sound” (Kalvos + Damien) of Ann Southam’s Re-Tuning, to Dai Wei’s stirring Partial Men (dedicated to deceased organ donors who extend others’ lives), to the propulsive, nimble counterpoint of flutes and electronics in Nathalie Joachim’s Life Lines, the concert explores the exquisite tensions that exist around us in all forms.
